RPB DAVID F. WEEKS AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING AMD RESEARCH

The RPB David F. Weeks Award for Outstanding AMD Research (the "Weeks Award") has been established through the generosity of Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB), an anonymous donor, and the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO), to annually recognize and celebrate an excellent researcher focused on age-related macular degeneration. The award carries the name of David F. Weeks, former President and Chairman of Research to Prevent Blindness, in honor of his contributions to the field of vision research. The award will be presented annually at the AUPO Annual Meeting.

STRAATSMA AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN RESIDENT EDUCATION
The Straatsma Award for Excellence in Resident Education was established through the generosity of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology, and private funds to recognize and celebrate an outstanding Program Director in ophthalmology. The award carries the name and honors the accomplishments of Bradley R. Straatsma, MD, JD, former Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at UCLA and former Director of the Jules Stein Eye Institute. The award will be presented annually at both the annual meetings of the AAO and AUPO.

AUPO/AAO AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN MEDICAL STUDENT EDUCATION
The Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education was established through the generosity of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology to recognize and celebrate an outstanding Director of Medical Student Education in ophthalmology. The award will be presented annually at one or both of the annual meetings of the AAO and AUPO.

AUPO/RPB RESIDENT AND FELLOW RESEARCH FORUM
The Forum is intended to encourage the most promising house officers to pursue a career in academic ophthalmology and vision research.

The AUPO Board of Trustees and members wish to express their appreciation to Research to Prevent Blindness, to its Board of Directors and to Diane Swift - President, for the generous grant to AUPO that has made the Resident and Fellow Research Forum possible.

The 2018 Research Forum abstract submission process will open in August 2017.
