AUPO Seeks a New Executive Vice President (EVP)

Do you have the desire and skillset to help lead Academic Ophthalmology into the future?

Apply today.

The Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) continues to grow by leaps and bounds. Dr. Steve Feldon will complete his second five-year term as AUPO’s Executive Vice President (EVP) on December 31, 2024. The Board of Trustees is indebted to Steve for his outstanding service to the organization.  Article VII, Section 7.4 of the bylaws states that no individual may serve more than 10 years as Executive Vice President; therefore, a task force has been established to begin the process of identifying a new EVP for a term beginning January 1, 2025. The task force consists of Don Budenz (Chair), Nick Volpe, Terri Young, Kathy Colby, Russ Van Gelder, and Steve Feldon (ex officio).

The EVP will interface with the membership, our management company, the Board of Trustees, industry partners, societies, and associations of ophthalmology (e.g. AAO), and will represent the AUPO as a spokesperson in all matters related to academic ophthalmology. This is an independent contractor position with a salary range commensurate with a time commitment ranging from 20% to 100%.

Eligible candidates must be a current or past Chair Member of AUPO (i.e. Department Chair or Division Head). Members interested in being considered should review the job description and complete the EVP Interest Form at the links below before April 1, 2024.  Please direct any questions to Don Budenz (dbudenz@med.unc.edu).

Finalist candidates will be interviewed by the full Board in July.
